ABOUT US

Who We Are

The Central Chapter of the Virginia Association for the Education of Young Children (Central-VAAEYC) is the local chapter of the Virginia Association for the Education of Young Children (VAAEYC), the state's local affiliate of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Our service area includes the counties of Albemarle, Buckingham, Cumberland, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson, and Orange, as well as the City of Charlottesville.

What We Do

Our vision is a world where all young children will grow up valued, respected, and provided with the nurturance and resources necessary to ensure their optimal development. We offer early childhood educators the opportunity to network, participate in high quality professional development opportunities, and engage with early childhood education policy at the local, state and national level.

Organization Structure and Governance

The Central VAAEYC Board implements a hybrid governance system that is inclusive, transparent, and oriented towards action--each board member is afforded the opportunity to actively participate in the decision-making process. As a Chapter, we are committed to prioritizing learning and understanding through experiences, and developing relationships that will deepen our work.
